It is the longest lasting, least expensive driveway, road and parking lot material. In average daily use a 2 inch depth should last 3-5 years, a 3 inch depth should last 4-6 years.
Tips
You do not need to install landscaping fabric under compactable materials. Compactable materials compact to form a solid, flat surface, so weeds cannot get light and moisture to grow (germinate). Examples; any type of roadbase, (recycled asphalt, class 6 granite or recycled concrete), class 1 structural fill dirt, granite or river rock crusher fines. If you want to spend the time and money to install the fabric and pins, it doesn't hurt anything.
Class 6 Granite Roadbase can also be used as a non-expansive fill material, because it contains no clay. When it gets wet it will not become slippery and slimy or dangerous to work or drive on. It can be used under and behind retaining walls, foundation drainage, under artificial turf, pavers, etc.
Note
These pictures show the wide range of colors Class 6 Granite Roadbase. We do not guarantee the color, only that it’s Class 6, 3/4 inch minus Mountain Granite Roadbase. These are natural products subject to change as the quarry crushes different colors of granite materials.
